TURKS & CAICOS AIRPORT AUTHORITY AND TURKS & CAICOS SPORTING CLUB AT AMBERGRIS CAY
SIGN AGREEMENT TO COMMENCE FLIGHT OPERATIONS

PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos Islands; Thursday, February 21, 2008 – Talks between the Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority and Turks and Caicos Sporting Club at Ambergris Cay culminates with an agreement that  has been signed.

The ceremony, which took place at the SkyBase Center on Providenciales, yesterday, Wednesday, February 20, was witnessed by key functionaries responsible for bringing about this initiative.

This is the first step in the foundation for air traffic services at Ambergris Cay Airport, towards them obtaining full United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority Certification, which is anticipated at the end of the first quarter of 2008, thus providing for direct international private flights.

The airstrip, which is 5,760 feet long, is the longest lighted, paved private airstrip in the Caribbean. The Ambergris Cay Airport can accommodate many types of aircraft; along with an adjacent facility for customs and immigration. Further, all fees with regards to flights and airport operation will be made payable to the Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

In compliance with United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority regulations, the airport will have a fully equipped firefighting team and an EMS station that is currently under construction, to be completed in March.

Mr. John Smith, CEO of TCIAA, said that it will be the responsibility of his department to handle and coordinate all air traffic services into and out of Ambergris Cay. Moreover, he made mention that as of February 19 2008 the Airport Authority has launched its new website: www.tciairports.com that will house all information pertaining to airports in the Turks and Caicos.

Mr. Peter McKinney, Vice President of Development for Turks and Caicos Sporting Club at Ambergris Cay said that the agreement will be "an arrangement where they will be providing training services for flight information officers and private staff stationed on Ambergris Cay particularly international flights."
